The idea of IREC arose, firstly out of a desire to find alternative solutions to the power problems in Nigeria, especially the 80m or so rural dwellers in Nigeria who have no hope for electricity in this generation at the rate of our current power development.
Secondly, having seen that Renewable Energy Technologies RETs, are available and abundant in Nigeria, there is the need to create opportunities for private-public sector partnerships to make the deployment and harnessing of these RETs a reality. Thirdly, to create opportunities for various stakeholders in the RE sector to cooperate in the commercial development of RETs in Nigeria. Fourthly, to encourage and stimulate the development of the RE industry in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
The Vision of IREC Nigeria is to promote Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) as a viable energy alternative for the rapid development of Nigeria.
